Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope the new year is filled with love, happiness, fun and friendship!

Hoot Hoot!

So I've had the last couple nights to myself, Dallas spent the night with gma and gpa and then at his BFs house. So I've been catching up on some fun chick flicks and reading blogs and quilting mags and books. You know the fun stuff (*_*)  And I am super excited to say that I have found a pattern that I absolutely LOVE for my It's A Hoot charm packs that I've been itching to make something with.
How freaking cute is that?! I'm not sure yet if I'll do the rick rack, I'll have to see how the quilt makes me feel before I decide for sure. The pattern is called Blissful Day and you can get the kit at cottonway.com or you can enter her give-away on her blog. Now I just have to wait for my Kona Cotton to get here.

Yay!!! Another Niece!!!

So my sister Steph had her ultrasound today and its a GIRL!!! I'm super excited. Her theme is going to be hot pink and zebra print, and I like that it can be interpreted in alot of different ways, as opposed to it being a princess room or something. She likes this crib set which can be found here on etsy.

and this one which can be found here. I think I like it without the green better.

Lazy Days

Remember my Disappearing 9 Patch, here it is again. It was the last present Dallas opened this morning. We changed out the curtains and pillowcases right away and he said he loved how cozy the quilt is. Seriously, how cute is he?

My Mom and Dick really liked the hourglass quilt I made for them also.

Since we did all of our Christmases (sp?) we are spending a nice lazy day at home watching movies while Dallas puts together Lego sets and just hanging out together. I really appreciate days like today since our lives are so busy. Even Walmart is closed today, so even if I wanted to go somewhere there is no where to go, so I'm going to stay in my jammies and enjoy my day with Dallas.

Merry Christmas!

I sometimes feel like Julie on Julie and Julia. Hello...is anyone out there? Is anyone reading this?
Well if you are I would like to say Merry Christmas to you and yours from me and mine and I hope your holiday is full of love and happiness.

Captivating

Jesus Storybook Bible Deluxe EditionA few weeks ago at church our Pastor used some of the illustrations as well as the audio cd's for part of his sermon. I was captivated instantly, so I of course came home and ordered a copy for myself and Dallas. There is over 40 stories all of them narrated on the cd's. We have listened to them the last 2 nights and have listened to 10 of the stories. We both love listening to them and have made connections between old testament stories and Jesus that we might not have seen or understood as clearly before.

Snow Days

I'm over winter already, I don't particularly care for shoveling snow, I'd rather be cutting the grass :) But on the bright side, because it is winter I've gotten alot more inside projects done. Progress is moving pretty quickly on my babette which is nice.
These are the 4 round squares I got done today ( 25 done, 24 to go), I got all 50 - 2 round squares done already. I still have 16 - 6 round, 7 - 8 round and 2 -10 round and 2 - 12 round squares. Aaaagggghhh, it's going to take me a minute.

WIP

Well, I thought that I had finished all of my WIP, but then I looked into the dark corner that I had hidden my crochet bag and low and behold....2 unfinished projects. One of them was a scarf that I started back in July to give to the Stitches so I knocked that out and it is now ready to donate. The other was  a babette blanket that I started at least a year ago. But then I got my new sewing machine and the rest is history. So that is what I'm going to be working on. Hopefully I can knock it out and get to those super cute Moda It's A Hoot charm packs I have sitting on my desk :)

1st Christmas

Well today was our first Christmas of the year up at my Dad and Belinda's house. Dallas and I went up last night and spent the night, it was alot of fun. We played a few board games and watched Despicable Me. This morning I got to see Anthony open up his Batman quilt and I'm happy to say he liked it. Belinda really liked her table runner and napkins, which really made all the time that went into it SO worth it. It was alot of fun to watch the little kids open up their presents. Last year Belinda made me a super cute photo wall quilt and this year she made me some adorable pillows that are the perfect colors for my living room. Thanks Belinda, I LOVE them.

I also recieved The Quiliting Answer Book by Barbara Weiland Talbert and I've read through the beginning and sorta flipped through it and I am thrilled that it has so much information, I think that everyone should have a copy next to their sewing machine.

Paper or Cloth?

So I started out with this table runner (dont look too closely at my points) I really like the way the colors came out, the green border was originally going to be the binding but I wasn't too keen on ending it with the floral, so I used my binding strips to make another border and then matched my binding to the backing (an old Moda I had in my stash.
Well, after I got the table runner done I decided I should make some cloth napkins to go with. Remember that stash Moda fabric? That's what I used for the red insert. The tutorial for the napkins can be found here.

Who knew an hourglass could make time go by so SLOW?

So I really like the look of hourglass blocks but I didn't fully realize how much work they were until I decided to make one. But I'm really happy with the way it came out b/c my points lined up pretty nicely and it's my first free-motion quilting project and I think it came out really pretty good. I'm just going to look at the imperfections as cute quirks.

SpongeBob Squarepants

I made this little set as a Christmas gift for a family member, I found the cute little pouch over at Anna's blog Noodlehead. I found the covered journal at All-People Quilt, you can get the tutorial here  I made a little pouch for Dallas with some pirate material. They are super fun, fast and easy.

Sorry Its Been So Long

So I realize it has been a month since I last posted anything, but in my defense, it has been a BUSY one. I had a b-day, Thanksgiving, DJ's b-day and school stuff, a soccer party and the main thing.....getting everything done in time for Christmas. But I can say that I am now filled with joy in knowing that I am done with everything and its even all wrapped :) yay! So I wanted to share a few of the things I've been working on.
These little bags are to hold our 3D glasses for the theatre.

We made these little felt ornaments from a tutorial found here, they were super easy and a lot of fun. We made some for our tree and some to attach to our Christmas presents. Dallas had a lot of fun picking out the colors for each person and deciding who would get what.

Disappearing 9 Patch

WOO HOO! I got the quilt top done for Dallas Christmas quilt. Since he spent the weekend up at Grandma and Grandpas house I had plenty of time to get it done. Now I need to practice my free motion quilting so that I can get the quilt completely done in time. I've got a few more ideas for some other quilts rolling around in my head so hopefully I'll have the time to get some of them done.

So here is a picture of the quilt. After Christmas I'll post a pic of his room with the curtains and appliqued pillowcases I made to go with it.

Never Again (unil mine wears out)

This is my kitchen rug. I really love it. I made it about 6(?) months ago by "locker hooking".  Click here to watch a tutorial on youtube. The border is 2 different fabrics and the body of the rug is 3 different fabrics, its not immediately noticeable but it does give it a nice variegated look.

I never touch spirits. Have you some milk? - Batman

My sister asked me to make a Batman quilt for Christmas (not for her) :)
I sort of cheated and bought the squares pre-cut off of ebay. It's hard to find freaking Batman material. Who knew?
I just quilted an inner square on the red blocks and on the yellow I did bats! I'm really pleased with how they came out. I used my quilters foot so that I could see my needle a little better and I think it looks freaking awesome. I know that the 2 year old that is going to get it isn't going to know the time and love that went into it buy my sister and I will. I hope he loves it.

Granny Throw

I made this with a few leftover skeins for my church group Moses Lake Stitches. Everything we make (hats, scarves, blankets, pillowcases, etc.) whether its knit, crochet or sewing gets donated to local organizations that give it to people in need.

Otto the Octopus

So I decided I should put some of my older stuff on here too, so here is Dj's octopus from Christmas '09.
You can purchase the pattern here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeliciousCrochet
Dallas took this picture especially for my blog. What a great kid!

"Charming" Quilt

So I really like the way this came out. It's got a flannel backing to make it extra cozy.

My First Post

Yay! My first post!
I decided to set up a page to show all of my projects since I keep very few of them. Hopefully along the way someone else will get use and/or enjoyment out of them as well.
